It's not about learning Hindi or any other language-it's about coming together on a common platform for unity. If you know Hindi, you can communicate across all of North India. While there are several languages spoken in the northern region, people still find common ground to sustain communication.
In contrast, South India lacks a single unifying language, and the resistance to a common medium of communication seems misplaced. The entire nation should strive for a common linguistic identity, and Hindi serves that purpose effectively. Moreover, people across the country are willing to learn English because it brings economic benefits, yet some in South India refuse to speak even in English, often to alienate or intimidate non-speakers. This behavior amounts to nothing but pure exclusion and linguistic bullying.

My mother tongue is Marathi, however I can speak in Hindi. If your native language is Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu, etc. then how am I supposed to communicate with you if I don't know English? In my State I had Marathi and Hindi during PUC exams and in college. What's the problem in learning an additional language to communicate with others? Why did you learn English? You should have boycotted that too.

Bringing your ego in between won't solve the language barrier. Although diverse I am trying to connect with you but if you show attitude then I too shall loose interest in it. That's exactly what TN MPs are fighting for at Parliament.
As an honest Newspaper, Indian Express should go to the ground level in Tamil Nadu, and do the fact check. Isn't it?

Since north indians eat roti chapati you cannot force south people to eat the same. We have our own choice. We south people don't want to learn hindi because we dont want it so dont force it. our literacy rate and state GDP is way above any hindi speaking state. So what is the point in learning hindi. Instead of learning hindi we can invest the time in learning some software language like python, Java or some scripting language. This will help us to get a job. Does hindi exist 800 years before ? We are happy with our 5000 years old Tamil. Hindi is the mixture of foreign language you can google it your self. Like any other indian language hindi is just an official language not an National language.

It's funny how we proudly say to the whole World that "there is no other country like India, that is very UNITED in diversity!!" Where is the Unity here?!!
People who settled down & work in any Indian state, also pay all kinds of taxes & contribute to the development of that State!! Benefits are mutual !! No body settles down in any States for free!!
Why should India get dividend by State or language?!! We all are Indians
Then why show racism on language?
We Indians should respect all cultures & celebreate together!!
Any state can become a seperate country (getting divided & cut off from India due to language barrier), in future!! Now same happening in few more states.
If India gets divided by Language barrier, Next Generation will be in trouble!!
HINDI (not Urdu) is chosen as our Rashtra Bhasha because, there need to be atleast 1 language to solve language barrier problem ie. proper communication & keep all States in India United.
Sanskrit is not made our National language because, non-Hindus will have problem with it. If all States will start this, gradually there will be no India/Bharat!!
It's just like, we learn English to be connected & communicate at Global level.
I think, this is all anti-national political agenda😢. Maharashtra is one of a very respected state by all for it's "Unity in Diversity" kind of culture after India's independence!!
Many govt jobs give posting in different states. (IT jobs, etc also). Nobody can learn all Indian languages. 1 common Indian language is important.

The word Hindi itself is not Indian. Its 100% Persian. 90% of Hindi language is brought from Urdu, Persian, Turkish, Arabic. Just by giving a devanagiri script to it, you can not call Hindi as a Indian Language. Its high time, Indian Government should form a National Language Comittee and create an Unique Indian Language - combining equal portions of 6 of the Oldest Indian Classical Languages.

If multiple group of students in a north indian state wish for selecting 2 languages to learn, supposedly like telugu and marati, in most schools only hindi, sanskrit teachers are available, eventually the student doesn't have an option there. So they put peer pressure on the student even when they don't know what is peer pressure. The same applies when students from south indian state wish to learn any language like odiya and bhojpuri, they don't have other options except hindi and sanskrit.
Schools should improve to have adequate teachers well educated enough in that language to teach. That much amount of language teachers are not available to be appointed and produce good results in schools that are funded by state government in all states of India..
If this 2 language is working fine for a state and getting good results compared to other states, then it must be left to go on in progression that way. Stopping in between and changing it's course would require massive amount of workload for teachers and government & lot of study load to the children who are already good with what they have been learning.
That's the reason Tamil Nadu is not ready to accept NEP.
If there is need for a child's dream or a grown person's dream to be working in any state of India they can learn that language anytime. Basic need to communicate with world is English and to Let our roots be alive by Learning our mother tongue is enough for surviving and succeed.

Will they accept to learn Malayalam/Tamil/kannada/Telugu? many of them will simply take as sanskrit/classic hindi as third language, which is similar to Hindi but they want south indian students to learn hindi . This is really you are spitting HINDI on us. You should have asked wil thy ready to learn south indian language as mandatory as third language? If not why they are asking us to learn Hindi mandatory? Gujarathi.. punjabi… etc.. and other North Indian people don’t understand how hard this makes our lives
Tamil is as important as Hindi, just like every other regional language in India. Unlike many North Indian languages that evolved from Sanskrit and Prakrit, Tamil belongs to the Dravidian language family and has an independent linguistic heritage that predates Hindi. Learning multiple languages is always beneficial, but assuming that all Indians naturally know Hindi ignores India’s rich linguistic diversity.
