This is the return... of the space cowboy... on a computer screen of mine... for yet another rewatch (mandatory reference to that song, but considering i recently discovered there is a connection between it and the show after all, i couldn't avoid)

In late 2005 i discovered the series through a italian MTV Anime Night rerun and even if the opening theme seemed already cool (still is, obviously) me and my older brother didn't know what to expect (even if he probably saw it in pieces before). Well, this was already a great opening and it always holds up for storytelling, building up the two main characters, and even supporting / minor / one-off characters always look deep enough. That... "eye medicine" is still scary as hell. Too bad for the ending, but Spike and Jet will get used to it... and poor lunches and dinner, it seems obvious already.

First time watching this iconic show. Even though I'm older and could have watched it a long time ago lol. It's as good as I've been told.

Special. Bell Peppers and Beef.

Time to catch up on another classic, Cowboy Bebop... for now I can feel the atmosphere spilling out of the screen, a nice combination of science fiction with a western and a fairly dynamic, action-packed plot with an extremely calming atmosphere. MC immediately wins my sympathy, a charming sly guy and a joker, you just want to watch him.

I’ve seen this show described as a "classic," but it’s more than that. It’s a reflection of something deeper—a kind of melancholy that seeps through every frame, and it doesn’t give you answers. It just shows you life—raw, unpolished, and tough.

Spike Spiegel, the protagonist, is a walking contradiction. He's got the discipline of a master and the carelessness of a man who’s already seen too much. His reflexes? Damn near supernatural. His philosophy? Almost nihilistic, but grounded. It’s not a lack of care; it’s control. Spike doesn’t need to explain himself. He doesn’t need to justify his actions. And honestly, that’s the appeal. No words are wasted. He says just enough to make you listen, but not enough to reveal it all.

The story kicks off with a gritty yet beautiful tragedy—a doomed romance between Asimov and Katerina. It’s quick, brutal, and not romanticized. Life doesn’t always get a second chance, and neither do they. It’s harsh, and it mirrors the world Spike inhabits. It's like Red Dead Redemption 2—where things are always shifting, but there’s no escaping the past.

The jazzy soundtrack is the perfect companion to the visuals, blending into the atmosphere of the world. The colors are sharp, the action fluid, and every moment feels like it belongs to a larger narrative that you’re not fully clued into yet. That’s part of its charm—the way it invites you in, but doesn’t force you to understand everything right away.

@Shinji_ikari07

That's not what contradictiıon is but okay.... Maybe watch some more episodes before announcing the show a masterpiece. Btw, Cowboy Bebop is entirely episodic, so don't expect some "large narrative" but just enough story elements to follow the plot and the characters.
