My mother is from bagan,Kalimantan. I only understand hokkien but i didn't now how to speak hokkien. This is show is the reason i'd like to start learning more hokkien

新加坡政府不是有規定不能有方言節目嗎?? 所有戲劇不是都要有華語配音嗎?? 2016年開放了嗎? 不過劇中的福建話跟我們台語相似度高達95% 除了一些用詞之外我大部分都聽得懂阿~~~~有些講法更古老~~~在台灣已經很少用到了~~~~不過新加坡的方言令人擔憂受到華語和英語的衝擊之下~~~我看再過20年之後應該就消滅了差不多了~~~~

友善Friendliness包容Tolerance 尊重Respect 個人感覺是在拖時間 ,只是再延長方言消滅的時間而已 跟台灣小學生的鄉土語言一樣 ,治標不治本,有效改變方言就是從教育和社會 及家庭做起~~~政府不可能會大規模的改變

translation needs improvement.. "dai ji" should have been translated as things, "shi qing" not the weird thingy they had that sounds hokkien..
lol "rude shock" as if I'm not of chinese descent. I speak hokkien and mandarin and i'm just saying if someone wants to learn the meaning through the captions they won't get the full picture.
No, the rude shock will still come if you ever listen to one of many 李白 Li Bai's Tang poems especially in this RUclips vid:

See how it rhymes if you read or sing it in the standard Minnan (Quanzhou) language but not in the barbaric fake Han language. Seeing is believing. Now you can see how that the Putonghua cannot be considered as 華語 while the Fujianese language is believed to be indeed and probably spoken by the ancient sage Confucius.
Many young Hokkien and Cantonese people are not going to learn these ancient Chinese languages effectively if the TV station is going to displace those real Chinese words for Mandarin words instead. Example: “睇老君” tion lao gun in 潮州話 Teochew becomes “看醫生” is a lousy caption for those who really want to learn these ancient words seriously. The best way for displaying the caption is to include both Chinese languages. Because of the space constraint on the screen, it may not be a good idea when you already have an English subtitle below in the beginning.
I think the TV station should also consider using “吾” ngor instead of “我” wo in their subtitles.
